Meet the Team

Jennifer Foster
Areas of Practice:
Jennifer has provided legal services to the Kingston community for 15 years. Her main areas of practice include Wills and Estate Planning, Estate Administration, Corporate Law, and Real Estate Law. Jennifer is a full member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, and holds the Trust and Estate Practitioner designation (TEP), having fulfilled all the requirements of the STEP Canada Diploma Program.
Jennifer earned her law degree from Queen’s University in 1999 and has been a member of the Ontario Bar since 2001. Prior to practicing in Kingston, Jennifer served as legal counsel for the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health in Toronto, gaining extensive experience in health law, policy, health privacy, and advocacy. She has a demonstrated expertise in the Mental Health Act, Health Care Consent Act 1996, and Substitute Decisions Act, 1992, which she has shared in courses and lectures provided for physicians, health practitioners, health policy makers, and academics.
Jennifer also contributed on behalf of the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (as it then was) to the federal Assisted Human Reproduction Act prior to its implementation 2004, and assists individuals and couples with preconception, donation, and surrogacy contracts.
Jennifer’s expertise in this regard makes her ideally qualified to assist clients in resolving complex legal issues that arise in wills and estate planning and estate administration involving elder, consent, and capacity issues, as well as long-term health care and estate planning. Jennifer will work with your accountant and financial planners in order to ensure the best possible estate plan for your future and family needs.
Jennifer is also an active member of the Kingston community. She is currently legal counsel to the Kingston Writersfest and sits on the Board of Directors for several local organisations and initiatives.

Sean Butt
Year of Call: 2008
Areas of Practice:
Sean Butt joined EverLaw Group as an Associate in the summer of 2022.
He is an experienced litigator with over 13 years of experience representing institutional clients, small and medium size businesses, and individuals, and has appeared at all levels of court in Ontario. His main area of practice is civil litigation where he has significant experience in commercial litigation, debt recovery and mortgage enforcement, however, his practice includes a wide range of litigation matters.
Sean received his Bachelor of Arts with Honours at the University of Toronto focusing on Political Science and Economics and obtained his law degree from Queen’s University.
Sean practiced law at a mid-size firm in Toronto for the first 12 years of his career and decided to move his family and his practice to Kingston, an ideal location from which he represents the interests of clients in the Kingston community and across the province.
Sean thrives with colleagues that are highly engaged in their practice, making EverLaw Group a perfect fit. He is a strong proponent of civility in the litigation process and is dedicated to mentoring articling students and junior counsel. He is a Member of the Frontenac Law Association where he currently sits as Co-Chair on the Civil Rules Committee.

Eric joined EverLaw Group in the summer of 2025 as an articling student, before being called to the bar in 2026. Eric graduated from the University of Windsor, Faculty of Law in 2025, returning to his hometown of Kingston to begin his legal career.
While at Windsor, Eric was the recipient of the Samia Rose Shaheen Memorial Award in Legal Writing, the Max N. Mousseau, Q.C. Memorial Award in Municipal Law, and represented the University of Windsor at the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition. Eric previously received his BSc Political Science with honours from the University of Amsterdam, in the Netherlands, specializing in International Relations.
Outside the office, you can find Eric at the gym or at the tennis courts.

Martin Smith Futtit
Paralegal
Martin Smith Futtit is a dedicated paralegal who graduated from the Paralegal program at Loyalist College. He has a strong academic foundation in law, holding a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Law with a concentration in Business Law from Carleton University, as well as an advanced diploma in Countering Crime from Wilfrid Laurier University. In addition to his academic credentials, Martin’s professional experience in property management has given him practical insight into residential landlord-tenant issues, strengthening his ability to understand client concerns in housing-related disputes. With a background that integrates legal studies, business law, public safety, and practical property management experience, Martin is dedicated to delivering thoughtful, professional, and client-oriented legal support. He is passionate about advocacy, access to justice, and establishing a career rooted in integrity, effective communication, and practical legal expertise.
Beyond his legal and property management background, Martin has gained experience managing a youth soccer club, where he developed notable skills in leadership, organization, client relations, and community engagement. Leading a business that serves young athletes and their families has reinforced his ability to communicate effectively, build trust, and respond appropriately to others’ needs. This entrepreneurial endeavour exemplifies Martin’s commitment to service, professionalism, and positive outcomes for those he works with.
In his spare time, Martin enjoys spending quality time with his family and staying active through golf, curling, soccer, and other outdoor activities.
